Lacombe, Alberta (January 13, 2026) – The City of Lacombe Council has approved Bylaw 450.4, updating water, wastewater, and solid waste rates for 2026, as well as clarifying procedures for wastewater blockages. The bylaw received second and third reading at yesterday’s Council meeting and which take effect January 1, 2026.
The updated utility rates continue Council’s clear focus on affordability in the 2026 Operating Budget. Estimated utility bills for a typical detached home are expected to remain consistent with 2025 levels, providing stability and predictability for households. For other customer classes, including condominiums, apartments, and businesses, estimated bills may see modest increases or decreases depending on property type and water use patterns.
Bylaw 450.4 also clarifies the process for addressing wastewater blockages. Property owners are now required to have their plumber document the location of a blockage and obtain video evidence before clearing work begins. This ensures any potential City responsibility is properly assessed.
Residents can review the new rates and bylaw details on the City’s website and will receive further updates through the City’s social media channels and Council Highlights.
