The Lacombe Fire Department (LFD), established in 1907, proudly provides fire and rescue services to the residents of the City of Lacombe, and a portion of Lacombe County. The LFD responds to approximately 275 calls for service each year.
The fire department is staffed by a full-time Fire Chief, full-time Deputy Fire Chief and up to 40 paid-on-call volunteer firefighters. The department has a comprehensive training program, which includes NFPA 1001 Level one as a minimum training requirement with the majority of members being trained to NFPA 1001 Level 2 including NFPA 472 Operations level. Lacombe Fire department’s members pride themselves in achieving this high level of training and many members are internationally accredited in these and many other NFPA standards.
The Lacombe Fire department respond to many different types of incidents, including but not limited to;
- Fire suppression in both municipal and rural environments
- Rescue extraction from motor vehicle collisions and farm equipment
- Hazardous Material responses
- Wildland firefighting operations
- Surface and shore rescue from still or slow-flowing water bodies

The LFD is always seeking individuals who are able and willing to serve their community in a meaningful way as a volunteer firefighter. While an intake of volunteers is only done once yearly, applications are accepted all year round.
