Voter Identification Requirements are the same as the 2013 General Election, with the additional requirement to provide proof of age (18) for young voters. 

In accordance with section 53(1) of the Local Authorities Election Act (Proof of Elector Eligibility), Local Bylaw 426 (Voter Identification), and section 95(1)(a)(ii) of the Province of Alberta Election Act (Declaration Procedure), in order to vote, an elector MUST:

  • produce one piece of government issued identification that contains a photograph of the elector and establishes both the elector’s name and current residential address, and for younger voters, age; or

  • identification authorized by the Chief Electoral Officer which establishes the elector's name and current address, and for younger voters, age.
