Keeping sidewalks clear of ice/snow

San dSalt Box 56 Ave

Lacombe, Alberta (March 15, 2017) - Recent warm daytime temperatures are causing runoff onto public sidewalks, which then freezes overnight, creating dangerous, slippery conditions for pedestrians. Enforcement Services reminds residents to show that you are a good neighbour – please take the time to clear snow and ice from the sidewalk adjacent to your home. This is your chance to make the sidewalk safe for pedestrians and avoid an expensive fine and/or additional cleanup costs.

The City has placed a self-serve salt/sand box for free public use on the east side of the main entrance to the Infrastructure Services Yard (5444- 56 Ave), in front of the sliding gate. There is 24-hour access to the box. Residents are encouraged to bring their own buckets and scoops to collect the salt/sand mix for use on their driveways and walkways.

All residents – whether businesses, property owners or tenants – are required to clear snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their properties within 48 hours of accumulation.
